What is it?
The Interactive Wall Chart is a lightweight learning device with thirty pockets, each with the potential to hold a sound recording and a picture/symbol/object. It can be hung up on a wall or laid flat.

How does it work?
Voice recordings can be made to correspond with pictures or small objects which sit in the thirty pockets of the chart. Each pocket has a ten-second recording capacity. Custom-made pocket inserts can be created using pictures or symbols from the Internet, cut from magazines or drawn.

How could it be used to support SEND?
The Interactive Wall Chart could be used as a choice-making Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Device, offering a range of choices to enable the user/s to make independent decisions or requests e.g. which snack they would like. It could also support the sequencing of daily routines with each pocket holding a specific task; the sequencing of a story/song with actions in a particular order; or as an interactive, visual journal to record things that happen throughout the day. Alternatively, it could simply be used to support the early learning and identification of several items within a group e.g. colours, numbers, shapes or animals.
