Honey Creek Resort, located on Rathbun Lake, has opened a new, inflatable water park for their guests and non-guests alike to enjoy. The Rathbun Lake Aquapark is the first attraction of its kind in Iowa and opened the first week of June.

According to a press release from Honey Creek Resort, the new addition joins Honey Creek Resorts’s water trampoline which opened in 2017. According to Honey Creek, use of the trampoline will be included in the purchase of each Aquapark session.

The Aquapark itself is 3,900 square feet and features 16 different inflatable components. Those include the Action Tower XXL where guests can test their endurance by climbing, jumping, crawling and sliding. There will also be he Cliff, where guests will need strength, speed and agility to pass. The Flip will let guests jump onto one end of it to launch their friends into the air off the other end. The Slide will let guests have fun slipping down a four-foot slide, as the name implies. The Foxtrot is a balance beam that will let guests have head-on battles with each other and the Zulu combines a five-foot tall climbing wall with a zero-entry slide for even more fun.

The Rathbun Lake Aquapark can accommodate up to 40 people at a time. Guests must weigh at least 40 pounds and must wear a life jacket at all times. Life jackets will be provided with the purchase of each session.

There are three sessions open each day. The morning session runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. while the afternoon session runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The evening session, which is available at a discounted price, runs from 6 p.m. until close. Honey Creek Resort guests also receive a discounted admission for all sessions, when compared to non-resort guests of the Aquapark.

According to the press release, in addition to the Aquapark, “Honey Creek Resort offers its guests ample opportunity for recreation on Rathbun Lake – Iowa’s second-largest lake, boasting 11,000 acres of water and 150 miles of shoreline. Beginning this summer, Honey Creek will offer laser tag, disc golf, Kan-Jam, karaoke, and oversized games like Jenga, Connect Four and pong.”

Honey Creek guests can also enjoy stand up paddleboards, kayaks, beach volleyball, horseshoe pits and fishing equipment. They can also rent a variety of watercraft like jet skis, ski boats and pontoons. Visitors and non-resort guests can also enjoy Honey Creek Resort by bringing their own watercraft and using Honey Creek’s marina with a boat launch, fishing pier and 40 boat slips.

The resort also features Buccaneer Bay Indoor Water Park, educational naturalist programs, outdoor recreation like hiking and biking trails, and The Preserve at Rathbun Lake, an 18-hole, Audubon-certified golf course.

Honey Creek Resort is owned by the state of Iowa and operated by global hospitality company Delaware North on behalf of Iowa’s Department of Natural Resources.
