THE VERSATORIUM PLAYBOOK: HOW TO DO THINGS WITH TRANSLATION
Seminar with Charles Bernstein & Peter Waterhouse
Austrian poet and novelist Peter Waterhouse and his collaborators at the University of Vienna have created an aesthetics laboratory for new approaches to translation as composition, deformance, and exchange. In this lively and thought-provoking seminar, Waterhouse and Charles Bernstein (whose work Versatorium has recently translated and published in German) explore the poetics of transduction, substitution, and transformation, as well as the political role that translation can play as a site of activism and engagement. Co-sponsored by Rethinking Translation.
